Baa Atoll

Thulhaadhoo

Thulhaadhoo in Baa Atoll is one of the most traditional islands in the Maldives and is known for its lacquer work — wooden boxes and vases decorated by hand. It has a quiet, community feel and access to Baa's reefs and manta areas. People come for the nature and leave remembering the craft and the people.

Getting there

The usual route is a domestic flight to Dharavandhoo followed by a boat transfer, or a speedboat from Malé of around 2–3 hours depending on conditions.

The reef & the water

Most snorkelling and diving is done by boat to Baa Atoll's reefs. In manta season, trips to Hanifaru Bay and other manta areas are possible.
